Prior to studying the Epic of Gilgamesh, we enjoyed a protracted discussion about Joseph Campbell’s Hero with 1,000 Faces, the hero’s journey, and monomyth. Bhagavad Gita contains elements of the monomyth throughout. While we are only studying a segment of an admittedly much larger epic, the Gita nevertheless contains elements from the monomyth. Identify areas in the Gita where you can identify elements of the monomyth. What part of the Hero’s Journey is Arjuna on? Who do the various characters represent?
