Read Chapter 8, including the cases and appendices in the chapter.

1- Read the chapter and then answer the following questions:
a) Define computer crime and provide two example of crime in which computers are targets and two examples in which computers are sued as instruments of crime.
b) Describe the security and system reliability problems created by employees.
c) Security isn’t simply a technology issue, it is a business issue. Why?
2- Read case study “The 21st Century Bank Heist” on page 268. Then answer the following questions:
Describe the security vulnerabilities exploited by the hackers.
What people, organizational, and technology factors contributed to these problems?
What solutions are available for this problem? How difficult are they to implement? Why?
3- Watch the video cases in Chapter 8 folder on the blackboard. Select one case and answer three questions from the list of Case Questions in that case.
Video Case 3: IBM Zone Trusted Information Channel (ZTIC)

Summary: More and more attacks on online banking applications target the user’s home PC, changing what is displayed to the user while logging and altering key strokes. In order to foil these threats, the IBM Zurich Research Lab has introduced the Zone Trusted Information Channel, a hardware device that can counter these attacks in an easy-to-sue way.

Provide some examples of each type of authentication factor. What are your personal experiences with each?

How might malicious attackers try to get around devices like the ZTIC?
Do you foresee a future where malware is completely eliminated, or protections are so good that malware is no longer a threat? Explain your answer.
